Halaan or Clam Soup Recipe


 


This dish is called tinolang Halaan or Clam soup. This is a Filipino-style seafood dish that is normally served on rainy days. When someone is feeling weak or kinda sick, this soup is normally given to make them feel better. When you have a cold, this soup will help ease any congestion.


Tinolang Halaan is easy and quick to cook. But before you cook, soak the clam in water to allow the shells to open and spit out any impurities. 


Ingredients:

  • Cooking oil
  • Ginger, thumb size, sliced
  • Onion, 1 small, sliced
  • Garlic, 2 cloves, sliced
  • Tomato, 1 pc, sliced
  • Halaan or Clam, ½ kilo
  • Spring onion leaves
  • Water for the soup
  • Chili long, 2 pcs
  • Fish sauce or patis to taste
  • Seasoning granules 
  • Chili leaves
  • Malungay leaves


Instructions:

  1. In a pan, heat the oil
  2. Add ginger, onion, and garlic, then saute
  3. Add tomato and mix
  4. Add Halaan or Clam, and mix a little
  5. Add spring onion leaves, then mix
  6. Add water enough to cover the shells, then allow it to boil until all shells are open
  7. Add the chili long
  8. Add fish sauce to taste, then boil for 1 minute
  9. Add the chili leaves, and boil for 30 seconds
  10. Add the malunggay leaves, and boil for 30 seconds


Serve hot and enjoy
